The Olympics may be years off, but that hasn't stopped the international community from celebrating one of the game's most famous sports in Paris: figure skating. American skater Ashley Wagner pulled a narrow victory over fierce competition from Japan's Takahito Mura, and Russian Julia Lipnitskaia.
Ashley Wagner of the United States and Takahito Mura of Japan had strong free programs to win gold at the Trophee Bompard on Saturday.
Both rallied past the overnight leaders. Wagner nailed her jumps to overtake the 14-year-old Julia Lipnitskaia of Russia, while Mura beat American Jeremy Abbott.
Lipnitskaia finished third behind 15-year-old Elizaveta Tuktamysheva, the Russian defending champion.
