Charlotte Restaurants: The much-anticipated opening of the Ritz-Carlton, Charlotte at Bank of America Center, just became a tastier proposition with the addition of the BLT Steak restaurant. BLT Steak, which is short for Bistro Laurent Tourondel, is a very successful franchise of upscale steakhouses and restaurants with locations in several American cities, including New York City, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and Washington, DC.

Chef Laurent Tourondel is the genius in the kitchen behind this uprising gastronomical tour de force. The chef and co-owner of the BLT Restaurant Group is the recipient of numerous culinary awards, including Bon Appétit magazine's 2007 Restaurateur of the Year and numerous best-of chef accolades. Tourondel masterfully blends fine dining in a relaxed atmosphere as a recipe for success.

"We are very pleased that the first Ritz-Carlton in North Carolina will also feature the first BLT Steak in North Carolina," said Simon F. Cooper, president and chief operating officer for Ritz-Carlton, Charlotte. He also added, "Chef Tourondel has redefined the traditional steakhouse and created award-winning restaurants in select cities across America."

This is the first affiliation between the two prestigious associations. BLT Steak in Charlotte will offer prime cuts of beef, fresh seafood, a wide variety of tempting side dishes, and classic American dessert favorites.

Jimmy Haber, BLT?s managing partner, said, "As Charlotte continues to grow as a business center, so does the city's dining audience. BLT Steak is a natural fit for the community, and we are thrilled to be opening our first North Carolina restaurant in partnership with Ritz-Carlton."

The Ritz-Carlton, Charlotte, is part of the grandiose Bank of America Center being raised in uptown Charlotte. The development includes a 30-story office tower. The Ritz-Carlton and the office tower, 1 Bank of America Center, will be connected to Founders Hall across College Street by twin crystalline sky bridges.

The luxurious 147-room Ritz-Carlton, Charlotte, will have a full-service salon, a health club, and a rooftop swimming pool. It will open sometime in 2009.
