Fairmont Hotels Goes Green: New Eco-Rating Program

Posted: Oct. 20th, 2009  |  By JustLuxe Team
Luxury Hotels: Fairmont Hotels & Resorts is a leader in the luxury hospitality industry. The collection consists of elegant, unique hotels, estates and luxury private residence club properties. Recently, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts announced its commitment to the environment by joining the Green Key Eco-Rating Program in the United States.

The program has evolved from its Canadian roots to the United States to focus on sustainable efforts in the hospitality industry. Green Key Program participants first perform a self-survey as to the sustainable practices of their property; in return they receive a rating as well as recommendations on how to make their practices more "green." Properties with Green Key ratings are spontaneously audited to verify the results of the self-survey. Fairmont's involvement with the program shows the luxury leader's commitment to protecting the environment and minimizing their impact on the planet.

Each environmentally aware Fairmont property is designed with the region in mind and many properties offer exclusive specials for guests to enjoy. Properties that operate by the 100-mile rule (only utilizing resources within a 100-mile radius) truly give guests a taste for the destination they have chosen to visit.

For instance, Guests of the Fairmont Heritage Place Ghirardelli Square, San Francisco and the Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa, Sonoma can enjoy the best flavors Northern California has to offer with Fairmont's exclusive Chocolate and Pinot Package.

Guests at the Fairmont Heritage Place can enjoy 2 nights in a luxury residence, complimentary daily continental breakfast, access to the Maserati Quattroporte house car and a Ghirardelli Chocolate amenity gift.

The package at the Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa includes 2 nights in a luxurious suite, a $100 Spa Service Credit per room, a choice of Daily Breakfast and a complimentary bottle of Sonoma's famous Pinot Noir.

This winter, take advantage of the Fairmont's Ski and Spa Seasons at select Fairmont resorts. Spend the day enjoying cold weather activities including skiing and sledding. After, head indoors for a relaxing spa retreat, where you can indulge in a hydrating facial or soothing massage. Fairmont spas design their specialty treatments to cater to the needs of guests in the surrounding environment; often design elements are inspired by the region.

Fairmont's dedication to Mother Nature as well as to the comfort of their guests is reflected in every unique luxury property. Travelers are assured first-class service, cusine and amenities...all in a green, sustainable and elegant environment.
