The Lodge was originally built in the 1930s, in an Art Deco style, to house the cream of Tasmania's pioneering hydro electricity officers and gentlemen. The guest book featured the powerful and famous and if you have the time to listen, has hosted more than its share of the risqué! Comprehensively refurbished in 2006, The Lodge retains the original 1930s craftsmanship and now incorporates contemporary Tasmanian design and the latest in modern communication.

Deluxe guest rooms and suites have been sympathetically built within the outer building shell and now incorporate the very finest of small luxury hotel living. Luxurious guest rooms all have internet, flat screen TV, DVDs and even a high fidelity connection for your iPod. Indulgent bathrooms have the latest in spa or soaking baths and heated floors, luxury toiletries and those sensually soft cotton bathrobes.

Some rooms have fires and private balconies and all guests have a complimentary soft minibar and original Tasmanian art. Ponder the view, soak in our cliff top hot tub, wander through the private garden or make new friends with the massive yet gentle Highland Cattle helping us to create new parkland around The Lodge.

Enjoy a complementary pre-dinner glass of our own private label wine in The Library, before dinner at the Wildside Restaurant with its choice of over 300 cellared Tasmanian and iconic wines. Return to The Library, (marvelling at the carpet of stars above your head), for post dinner coffee, super premium cognacs and a selection of over 120 malt whiskeys. The Lodge has won a number of awards since opening amongst them, inclusion on Conde Nast USA "Hot list 07 - the insiders guide to scene stealing hotels." We would love to show you why.
