Within just five months of opening, The Peninsula Tokyo has been recognized as Tokyo's landmark
hotel by two of the hospitality and travel industry's most influential authorities - the Michelin Guide
and Virtuoso.
Recognized for its celebration of luxury, impeccable standards of comfort and legendary Peninsula
service, The Peninsula Tokyo is rated in the highest luxury hotel category in the Michelin Guide
Tokyo 2008 surpassing other well-established luxury hotels, long considered the grand dames of the
city.
The first guide to be published outside of France goes on to say that "on the second-floor Hei Fung
Terrace serves Chinese cuisine in an exotically romantic atmosphere" making way for perhaps
future recognition of The Peninsula's restaurants.
Virtuoso is the travel industry's leading luxury travel network. The Peninsula Tokyo becomes only
the fifth hotel in Japan to be offered membership. With a history of leadership in the travel industry
dating back to the 1950s, this by-invitation-only organization comprises more than 300 agencies
with more than 6,000 elite travel specialists in 22 countries in North and South America, the
Caribbean, Australia and New Zealand, as well as over 1,000 of the world's best travel providers
and premier destinations.
