The Hotel You Have to See to From Above

Well that’s one way to stand out. Malaysia’s new Lexis Hibiscus hotel in Port Dickson designed its overwater villas in the shape of the country’s national flower (literally). Jutting out from the resort’s main hotel, the 522 villas create a gigantic hibiscus silhouette with everything from leaves to petals and a stigma. Because, why not?

Stretching out to almost a mile long, the rooms’ categories are based on which part of the flower you’d like to stay in. The leaves are Executive Pool Villas while the petals feature the Premium Pool Villas, Panorama Pool Villas rest on the stem of the stigma and the Imperial Suites make up the stigma. The largest of the options, the Presidential Suites, are at the very tip. Tower rooms are located within the main hotel.

No matter which room you choose though, they all come with a pool, sauna, floor-to-ceiling glass doors. Although the property is not yet fully completed, it is expected to offer nine food and beverage venues as well as Hibiscus Walk, the resort’s beachfront retail strip lined with rows of sidewalk fare, souvenir shops and water sports centers.

Calling it the “largest seawater fountain in Malaysia,” the property’s ocean-centered fountain definitely lives up to its title (but also kinda has the appearance of a broken fire hydrant). Port Dickson Malaysia is a little over an hour drive from Kuala Lumpur city center, but guests have the option of helicopter transfer since the hotel has its own helipad.

Rates begin at around $170 a night during their soft opening dates.
