Lake Mead National Recreation Area

Lake Mead is about half an hour from the lights of Vegas, and provides a stark contrast. The lake is open year-round, and offers vast open waters that are prime for boating, fishing and swimming.

The area is also home to thousands of desert plants and animals that flock to the oasis. There are plenty of beaches for sunbathing and campsites for overnight stays.
