London Fashion News: Calling all fashionistas! London Fashion Week will be taking to the catwalk next month, showcasing the creative, the stunning and the down-right wacky designs which are set to take stores by storm this winter.

Set to run from Friday 19 to Tuesday 23 February, there will be an array of events which are a must-see for anyone interested in the world of fashion.

The elegant Somerset House, Strand, will be the backdrop for the five-day event – set over four floors from the Embankment Galleries to Portico Room.

London Fashion Week, which sees world-class models take the stage wearing creations by renowned designers, sets the trends for the coming year.

Among the 200 designers kicking off the catwalk shows on Friday 19 are Maria Grachvogel, Jean-Pierre Braganza and Sass & Bide.

John Rocha, Holly Fulton, Vivienne Westwood, Paul Smith, Burberry and Christian Blanken are some of the other brands that models will be draped in as they power along the runway throughout the week.

Christopher Bailey, Chief Creative Officer of Burberry, announced his support for the British Fashion Council-organised event. “There was such an incredible energy during the 25th anniversary of London Fashion Week last September and we were very proud to be a part of this momentous celebration,” he said.

“London is our home and our global headquarters and we are thrilled to be showing again in this, our magnificent and creative city.”

But the event isn’t all about the catwalk. One of the most important exhibitions is the ready-to-wear and accessories collection, which will also be held at Somerset House.

Shoes, bags and jewellery from Eley Kishimoto, Ksubi and Patrick Cox will be among the must-see designer collections on display.

The fashion event will also be ‘going green’ with an eco-aware strand this year. Find designers such as Elvis & Kresse Arts, which has just launched its first range of products made from reclaimed fire hose.

The bags and belts have been seen on the likes of Cameron Diaz and Leonard Cohen – brining a whole new meaning to red-hot fashion.

As well as a host of displays and exhibitions, a number of prestigious hotels also support the event, offering superb rates for the duration of LFW.

Among these are the stunning May Fair Hotel, Mayfair, the luxurious 51 Buckingham Gate, Westminster, the classy Brown’s Hotel, Mayfair, the elegant Langham Hotel, Central London, and the stylish Kensington Hotel, South Kensington.

Caroline Rush, Joint Chief Executive of the British Fashion Council, commented: “These designers and brands strengthen London’s proposition as a global fashion capital whilst retaining our reputation for nurturing innovative emerging designer fashion businesses.

“The British Fashion Council is delighted that Burberry Prorsum, Antonio Beradi, Jonathan Saunders, Matthew Williamson and Pringle of Scotland have confirmed they will show in London this February and we look forward to working with them to attract leading media and buyers to London Fashion Week.”
