With the countdown to the Miami International Film Festival well underway, the romantic comedy Miami Rhapsody kicked off the festival’s 30th anniversary last Friday evening with a cast reunion. The event also included a film screening and an exclusive after party. It was a soiree filled with memories and sparkling cocktails as cast members and party-goers danced well into the night.
Cast members Sarah Jessica Parker, Jeremy Piven and Carla Gugino, joined Director David Frankel for an evening of fun and reminiscing that ended with a packed party at the prestigious, Coral Gables Country Club. Along the light-lined red carpet leading inside the club, Parker and Piven stopped for guests to sign autographs.
As a Miami local, Frankel’s work on Miami Rhapsody was often considered a “love letter” to his home city, gaining him impressive notoriety. Frankel went on to work with Sarah Jessica Parker again during several episodes of Sex and the City as well as with Jeremey Piven on another hit HBO series, Entourage. Notably, his work as the director of The Devil Wears Prada and Marley & Me have also kept Frankel in the spotlight as one of the most sought-after directors within the industry.
The Coral Gables Country Club did not disappoint as guests arrived in the stylish attire expected of this type of affair. The room buzzed with excitement as guests enjoyed appetizers and cocktails, courtesy of Bacardi and Brut Premier champagne. The party was hosted by the Toronto-based Liberty Entertainment Group, which is known for hosting parties during the Toronto International Film Festival. The Miami International Film Festival begins March 1 and runs through March 10, 2013.
