London NYC: A Luxurious Fusion

Posted: Jul. 23rd, 2008
Luxury Hotels: The first word that springs to mind when describing the London NYC is "unexpected." It is a happy fusion of both London and New York -- hence the name -- and represents the summit of subtle sophistication. Right from its huge lobby which appears friendly and warm despite its size, the mosaic flooring, the luxurious dining space, everything is detailed and gorgeous. Part of the LXR Luxury Resorts, London NYC is the collective brainchild of Gordon Ramsay, David Collins, Waterworks and Quintessentially, the global concierge service.

In the very heart of Manhattan, London NYC is very close to the Museum of Modern Art and the Fifth Avenue. London NYC, which has figured in several "Top 10" and "Best Hotel" lists, boasts 562 rooms and 54 floors. The sumptuously large suites have been designed by the world-famous designer David Collins whose work at the Blue Bar at Berkeley, Nobu Berkeley Street, London's National Gallery, and Claridge's Hotel is well known.

The curtains and the sofas are designed so that they fit in with the corners of the rooms with no wastage of space. The colors -- mainly blue, gray, and white -- are extremely fetching and calming on the nerves. The trappings are minimalist smacking, surprisingly, of grandeur. The bathrooms too, are large and very well appointed.

Each room at London NYC has access to high speed Internet access (also wireless). There is also an automated personal bar, plus a parlor with a sophisticated work desk. All the rooms at London NYC offer a lovely view of Central Park and the city of New York.

There is an elite personal concierge service available at London NYC with the staff discreetly attentive yet not overly obsequious. Among the chief attractions at London NYC is the Gordon Ramsay Restaurant with its London décor blended with New York's vitality. The understated sophistication is highlighted in the green lacquered walls of oak. Guests love the exotic menu comprising starters such as roasted Hudson Valley foie de gras with caramelized plum, preserved black walnuts and green bean salad. Some desserts like pineapple soufflé with Thai curry ice cream and toasted coconut are also pretty popular.

Whether you go down to the Gordon Restaurant, or the bar, or have food in the room, the food is simply great. It is one of the things London NYC is famous for. London NYC is truly great in more than many ways.
