New York News: In honor of the partnership between globally recognized icon of luxury, Gucci, and Mary J. Blige's Foundation for the Advancement of Women Now, Inc. (FFAWN), Gucci is hosting "Gucci For FFAWN Day" on September 16th at its New York 5th Avenue Flagship store.
For the event, Gucci is launching a limited edition Twirl watch, designed specifically for the fundraiser. On the day of the event, Gucci's New York flagship will donate a percentage of the day's sales to FFAWN and will toast the evening with a private in-store cocktail party co-hosted by the brand and Mary J. Blige.
Gucci's creative director, Frida Giannini, designed the limited edition Twirl watch as a symbol of the partnership to feature both Gucci's eye for contemporary design as well as making a statement for the cause.
Originally introduced in 2006, the Twirl watch has now been refreshed. The innovative design of the case, which turns on itself revealing its elegantly engraved case back, allows it to be worn as both a watch and an exclusive piece of jewelry.
The black lacquered dial boasts the crisp typeface of the Gucci name and is free of numerals or indexes. The small dial is encircled by 34 black diamonds, further enunciating the exclusivity of the limited edition watch.
Instead of resting on a typical leather strap or a the links of a stainless steel bracelet like other watches being released this season, the dial of the new Twirl timepiece rests on a dramatic, black bangle made of extremely durable and striking stainless steel black PVD.
The innovative, multi-functionality of the watch adds another layer to the expertise of the Gucci design team, always on the forefront of fashion trends and demonstrating their renowned reputation for quality and Italian craftsmanship.
The Mary J. Blige and Steve Stoute Foundation for the Advancement of Women Now, Inc. was created and funded in 2007 to help women overcome difficulties and provide them with the drive and confidence to pursue their dreams and goals through programs, grants and scholarships.
Gucci will donate a portion of the sale of each limited edition Twirl watch that is sold in Gucci stores and select department and specialty stores in the United States and Canada to FFAWN in support of the cause.
