You’d probably never guess that the new luxury boutique hotel V Palm Springs was once a budget Travelodge when you walk into its lobby. Purchased by Los Angeles celebrity criminal attorneys, the property saw a $15 million dollar makeover and was transformed into a 21st-century retreat. Because competition is fierce right now in city—an eclectic array of small boutique hotels sit along Palm Canyon Drive—the hotel needed to standout from day one.

Among its best amenities is its pool with enormous golden floating swans will be part of the draw for locals and the swarms of Angelenos whom regularly make Palm Springs their weekend haunt. There are plenty of lounge chairs strategically placed on the pool deck for sun and a variety of umbrellas for those seeking shade and a nap. From the deck, guests can view out onto the nearby San Jacinto Mountains. Cabanas are available for upwards of $1,000 a day and include Champagne, fresh fruit and water.
