Largest Starbucks in the World Coming to NYC

You know what New York City could really use more of? Starbucks locations! Yeah, this wasn't the answer we were expecting either. In a city filled with 220 Sbux stores and counting, you might think the Big Apple already has its fair share of the coffee conglomerate, but you’d be wrong. The chain will be opening a 20,000-square-foot “Roastery,” the brand’s concept store, in the Meatpacking District in 2018.

The destination on 61 Ninth Avenue will be the largest Starbucks in the world and will function as more than just a coffee shop. The Roastery and Tasting Room will feature the company’s more upscale coffees and exclusive reserves while also being a place for guests to learn more about the process of roasting and brewing coffee.

Starbucks’ first roastery debuted in Seattle in 2014 and has allowed avid followers of the brand to interact with roasters and baristas while enjoying tastings and exclusive experiences. “In New York, we want to take elements from what we originally created and build something even bigger and bolder, celebrating coffee and craft in a completely unique and differentiated way,” said CEO Howard Schultz in a statement. “We want this experience to tell our customers that we’re coming to Broadway.”
