San Diego's Hottest Suite Will Make You Feel Like a Rock Star

Photos Credit: Hard Rock Hotel San Diego

It’s pretty easy to consider never leaving your room when staying in the Hard Rock Hotel San Diego’s Multi-Platinum Suite. With 1,070 square feet of space, you might find yourself skipping a tour of the city to relax in your BainUltra air jet tub or sip on Champagne on one of two cozy L-shaped couches in the room. Had it not been my birthday weekend, you may have found me Neflix and chilling my whole stay instead of hitting the town. It’s that impressive.

When you book any of the property’s Rock Star Suites, you’re afforded VIP status which means a secret check-in area behind the floor-to-ceiling LED screens in the lobby. You wouldn’t even know it was there if you didn’t know to look. In the VIP check-in lounge, guests are treated to coffee and snacks along with cozy couches to sit in while the Rock Royalty Crew gets you checked-in. Should you wish to make any restaurant, spa or other reservations, the team in there can set you up with all that as well. Plus, they’ll also offer you a beverage before you head up to your suite, because no one deserves to enter the room sans cocktail in hand.

One nice thing about the Rock Star Suites is that you need your room key to access the elevators. This adds an extra level of security to your stay. The room categories in this group range from the Debut Rock Star Suites to the Black Eyed Peas Suite. The latter, of course, designed by the Grammy-winning group, and partial proceeds from the room benefit the band's charity. For our stay, we fangirled over the Multi-Platinum Suite, a minor (extremely minor) step down from the Black Eyed Peas’ retreat.

Ranging anywhere from 984 square feet to 1,070 square feet, the massive suite comes with a dining room, two living spaces and a bedroom, all enclosed by floor-to-ceiling windows lining the whole penthouse. You’ll get views of downtown, Coronado and the pool area and lounge a few floors down. If you book room 1101 there’s also an 835-square-foot outdoor terrace attached. In the dining room, a bar area with swivel chairs sits opposite the six-person dining table decorated by a hanging chandelier above. To get the party started, use your phone’s Bluetooth to connect to either of the two TVs which can easily stream your favorite tunes (ahem, Rihanna).

If you’ve ever stayed at a Hard Rock property, you’re probably already familiar with their extremely comfy beds. Their San Diego property is no different. You'll most likely inquire about how to purchase the king-sized bed here, which comes with a furry throw blanket and tiny guitars sewn into the pillow cases. Next to the bedroom, the spa-like bathroom features a BainUltra air jet tub that sits next to a large window where you can soak in bubbles and watch all the happenings going on outside. There are also bath salts provided to really up your bath game.

To really enjoy the sweet life, book one of the hotel’s signature Rhythm and Motion spa treatments. The therapy is a fully-immersive, music-centric experience that utilizes amplified vibrations, pressures and patterns added on to traditional Swedish massage practices. In other words, perfectly Hard Rock. The Synchronicity treatment begins with choosing your music preference (with or without words), you’ll lay down on the massage table which houses an amplifier underneath so your body feels the music’s bass vibrations. Throughout the massage, gentle sound waves pulse above you through a hanging dome.

Studies from the Mayo Clinic has shown that music enhances immune function, alleviates stress and relieves pain. Having tried many spa treatments across the globe, I can sincerely say this is one of the most unique therapies I’ve ever experienced. It also opened my whole body up in ways I didn’t expect and had me feeling completely loose and relaxed.

Once your treatment is done, consider grabbing cocktails and food at the famous Nobu restaurant downstairs. Along with its trendy atmosphere, you just can’t beat Chef Matsuhisa’s world-renown sushi. Or, just order in some room service because like we said, you may never want to leave your suite. San Diego isn’t known for having incredibly-cool suites, the kind you may find in Vegas, so finding this gem right in our own backyard is pretty great. Who needs Sin City when you can post up in the Gaslamp Quarter for a weekend and enjoy the same suite benefits?
