Paris Culture: Initially housed in the Palais du Luxembourg made famous by Marie de Medici, the Musée du Luxembourg was the first French museum to be opened to the public, way back in 1750. The museum was once filled with the contemporaries that are legend today, but those works were acquired by The Louvre and the Luxembourg has since been dedicated to living artists.
Once you've passed through the wrought-iron gates out front and through all the exhibitions in this building, journey into the back to experience a massive garden with wide open lawns and secret statues. |
