Philadelphia Culture: The stories of the brave men who fought in the ugliest war ever to occur on American soil are told at Philadelphia's Civil War Museum. Treasured artifacts from the war that make up the collection here include a pocketwatch that was struck by a bullet, a bloody handkerchief, and letters to and from home.
The Civil War Museum closed its recent location in 2008, and for now the items can be viewed at the Gettysburg Battlefield Museum and Civil War Heritage Center until their new space opens, which is scheduled for 2014. |
