Built in 1914 as a private home beside Seneca Lake, Geneva on the Lake was patterned after Villa Lancellotti in Frascati, Italy, complete with Italian marble fireplaces, wall tapestries, Ionic columns and wood-coffered ceilings. Today, the resort offers guests 23 luxury suites and six luxury studios, ten of them with two bedrooms, a tent pavilion for weddings, and three conference suites for executive retreats and conferences. Activities and amenities are many and varied, including winery tours and wine tastings, swimming in a 70-foot outdoor lakeside pool, bicycling, lawn games, golf, tennis, ice skating, skiing, outlet and antiques shopping, fishing, canoeing and kayaking, and boat rental and moorings. Watkins Glen Gorge and State Park, Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge and Seneca Lake State Park are nearby for hiking and bird-watching. Guests may also relax with in-room massages and facials, and enjoy gourmet meals in the Lancellotti Dining Room, the Leonardo Da Vinci Suite, and the Parlor.
