Luxury Resorts & Residences: Thirteen is a very lucky number for travelers to Fort Lauderdale, Fla., as the St. Regis opened its thirteenth resort on the beaches of the Gold Coast. The new luxurious mixed-use development consists of 166 guest rooms, 34 hotel condominiums, and 28 private residences. The curvilinear white 24-story glass-walled building of the St. Regis serves as a shimmering backdrop of the large pool deck with an edgeless pool that overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. The lobby of the hotel is 1940-ish glamorous with oversized crystal-dome chandeliers, marble floors, and murals reminiscent of paintings by Jean Cocteau. The ornate resort is infinitive opulence.

There is a fitness facility and a full-service spa. The St. Regis Spa features the exclusive Laboratoire Reméde complete skincare system. It is a sinfully sensual experience, as body scrubs and wraps, global message methodologies, manicures, pedicures, and waxing services are provided. There are 10 treatment rooms, including a private couples only treatment suite. The fitness facility has assorted aerobics and weight training programs as well as spinning and yoga classes. The resort's concierge can arrange tee-times for golfers at the prestigious Diplomat Country Club and the Grade Oaks Golf Course. The highly acclaimed Toby Joseph is the executive chef in charge of the seafood cuisine served at Ceros, the resort's oceanfront restaurant. Additionally, there are three bar and lounges onsite.

There are numerous venues within five miles of the St. Regis for shopping, dining, entertainment, and cultural affairs. Shopping and fine dining are found in the neighborhood at Beach Place, Galleria Mall, Las Olas Boulevard, and Broward County's Riverwalk. The Museum of Art, the Museum of Discovery and Science, and the Fort Lauderdale Antique Car Museum also are nearby, and the Broward Center for the Performing Arts and the DCOTA (Design Center of the Americas) are near the resort too.

All guest rooms and suites are equipped with one-touch technology phones that feature butler-service access and other hotel services. The St. Regis Butler Service has been a signature amenity of the resort for more than 100 years. Rooms also have WiFi Internet access, state-of-the-art DVD theater entertainment systems with two LCD-panel televisions, bamboo-silk robes, classic Pratesi linens, Reméde bath niceties, and a refrigerated mini-cellar filled with refreshments. Residents of the St. Regis receive all of the resort's amenities and benefits. For event planning, there is more than 24,000 square feet of first-class meeting space.

The Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide also is planning a St. Regis Resort & Residences in Bal Harbour. Construction begins later this summer.
