Luxury Resorts: If you haven't been to Little Palm Island yet, you haven't truly lived. For the ultimate escape of a lifetime, Little Palm Island offers pure respite for that much needed vacation. There are no televisions in the rooms, cell phones are not recommended and children under 16 are not permitted on the romantic island, which is a quick ferry from Florida's Little Torch Key and just 40 minutes from Key West.
Thatched roof bungalows dot the white sand beaches and you know you have arrived. The Polynesian-style furniture, outdoor shower, Jacuzzi tub and sun soaked veranda are some of the reasons why this island has been called the "East Coast version of Tahiti."
We stayed in the oceanfront Woodpecker Suite on the northern part of the island, which was also the most windy section of Little Palm. Of the 28 suites on the island, those located near the Atlantic Dock were a better bet, offering a more quiet area. Each one-bedroom suite has a king bed draped in butterfly netting, a spacious living room, an indoor separate shower, a deep jetted tub and even an outdoor shower.
Service here is paramount and the personal touches of the staff are simply indulgent. From knowing your name the moment you step off the boat to the personalized suite and even letterhead, the experience is truly first rate here.
