If you thought breweries were only good for beers, food and cool meet-up spots for friends and family, think again. Thanks to the creative thinking of the Swiss back in 2010, the building that once held barrels full of Hürlimann beer has been transformed into Thermalbad & Spa Zurich. Connected to Boutique Hotel + Spa Hürlimann-Areal and run by Aqua-Spa-Resorts AG, the retreat is spread over 10,800 square feet.

Its unique architecture, 100-year-old vaulted stone walls, and simple exposed brick create a one-of-a-kind spa atmosphere. Replaced by basins made of larch wood, the old metal tanks have been revamped for a more comfortable experience while still serving as a reminder of the large beer containers used in the brewery.

Relaxing and restorative, the spa is a new interpretation of the over 2000-year-old Roman bath culture that utilizes mineral-rich water drawn from the Aqui Springs deep beneath the city of Zurich. Among its treatments, guests can book a few different options which include access to thermal baths, full-body clay wraps, body peels, and massages.

At the center of the facility, there are different types of pools inside chambers with arches and swimming paths. On the roof, guests can enjoy panoramic views of the city and Alps on its year-round pool. The retreat also features saunas, steam rooms, private rooms, special sauna rituals and areas for lap swimming.

While open daily, on Tuesdays the Irish-roman Spa Ritual is Ladies Only and all admission is regulated to those 16 years of age and older. Prices begin at $35 for general admission into the baths without any spa treatments included.
