A subtle sophistication permeates The Lodge at Woodloch. Everything, from attentive service to elegant accommodations, innovative gourmet dining and an adults-only (16+) setting, the property exudes an air of sophistication. While many guests use the lodge as a meditative retreat because of its vast array of holistic offerings, others immerse themselves in the non-stop schedule of indoor and outdoor activities. The options include mind/body activities, fitness classes, outdoor adventures, fly fishing, cooking, juicing demonstrations, and creative discovery.

The world-class spa is the centerpiece of the lodge. With 27 private rooms for customized face and body treatments, the facility features separate men’s and women’s saunas, steam rooms and whirlpools, along with fireplace lounges. Plush locker rooms are an added bonus. The co-ed Whisper Lounge, with a fireplace, outdoor porch, and rocking chairs, is an ideal location to forget about the hustle and bustle of the outside world. At the sparkling Aqua Garden guests can enjoy soaking pools with heated Hydromassage WaterWalls, an indoor pool especially designed for aqua classes, water volleyball, and an outdoor Horizon Edge Whirlpool for year-round use. Also available are three Mind/Body Studios for aerobics, yoga, meditation, and more, along with full cardio equipment and a dedicated Pilates training area.

The lodge’s in-house dining venue, TREE Restaurant & Bar, is overseen by Executive Chef Josh Tomson. Meals are meticulously prepared by the kitchen staff who focus on a garden-to-table philosophy. The chef’s team hand selects naturally-raised meats and fish as well as organic, locally grown vegetables from the hotel’s three gardens.

Held Thursday nights on the deck of the Garden Shed, the Chef’s Garden Dinner switches up the typical farm-to-table meal by creating a table-to-farm experience. This intimate farm setting, which seats a dozen people, highlights the wonderful culinary creations of Chef Tomson as he selects the harvest focus for the dinner. He also discusses each course while a sommelier pairs them their selections. The five-course, two-hour affair may include smoked burrata, Blackmore vegetable salad, grilled Dorade Royale and pickled corn relish.

Juicing demonstrations are also a favorite lodge activity. Presented by a high-energy, affable juicing expert, this hour-long class highlights the many advantages of making your own juice. Recipes include an apple and celery juice, orange-carrot-ginger juice and pineapple-orange-parsley juice. There’s even a recipe for a Hangover Juice, which includes a hint of a jalapeño pepper.

During the summer season guests can enjoy an early evening kayak session around the lake, a visit to the woodland gardens, or a relaxing soaking at the Rock Garden Waterfall. The fall foliage in Pennsylvania is also a great backdrop for a scenic hike. From the warm sunshine of the summer to the snowy serenity of the winter and colorful landscape of spring, the Pennsylvania Lake Region of the Pocono Mountains is the ideal destination any time of year.
