Hotel Specials: The storied St. Regis in New York City is offering a VIP Aficionado package for this years Veuve Clicquot Manhattan Polo Classic on May 30th, where Britains Prince Harry will take the field. The Classic was launched last year on Governor's Island, the 172-acre former Army base on Manhattan's southern tip, and was the first polo match played in the city in 70 years. The St. Regis Aficionado package includes a stay at the ultra-luxe hotel, VIP seating at the match for two guests as well as a brunch the next day with Nacho Figueras, captain of Ralph Laurens Black Watch polo team as well as the face of Laurens Black Label ad campaigns.
Prince Harry, who's making his first official visit to the U.S., will play opposite Black Watch on a team captained by Nick Roldan, a candidate for the new face of Ralph Lauren Fragrances. For this years Classic, Veuve Clicquot has partnered with American Friends of Sentebale, a vital charity that supports at-risk children in Lesotho, Africa. Founded by Prince Harry and Lesotho's Prince Seeiso, Sentebale helps forgotten victims of poverty and HIV/Aids. Proceeds from ticket sales at the match will go to Sentebale. New York is often cited as the birthplace of American polo c.1876, and Army officers played the sport on Governor's Island until the onset World War II. Black Watch bested Asprey 10 - 6 in last years inaugural Manhattan Classic.
