Billy Elliot, the movie where a young boy realizes and carries out his dreams of dance and ballet, was adapted for stage with the creation of Billy Elliot, the Musical. This award-winning show will be performed in Montreal for 5 days in January, 2013.

Billy Elliot, the Musical, with music by Elton John, is coming to Place des Arts in Montreal January 8 to 13, 2013.

This heartwarming tale of triumph over adversity about a young boy who takes up ballet dancing in a British coal mining town during the Maggie Thatcher era, has won multiple (81)  awards on both sides of the Atlantic (four Laurence Olivier Awards in London, Tony Awards and many others on Broadway).

Based on the 2000 film, the musical’s book and lyrics are by Lee Hall who also wrote the film script. It premiered in London in 2005.
