St. Anthony's Celebrates Centennial in Vienna

The beautiful St. Anthony's Cathedral in Vienna is due to celebrate its centennial on October 28th. The event, meant to commemorate the cathedral's 1912 dedication, is looked forward to with great fervor by the congregation. Following Mass, the celebration will feature a dinner reception and entertainment.

Standing in the back of the church one Saturday, Gisele Pappas, a parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua Parish, noticed two men who were obviously down on their luck. One man had his arm over the other one's shoulders. He stared, mesmerized by the Vision of St. Anthony; and there were tears streaming down his face.

"See, that's why I come here when I get in trouble," he whispered to his friend.

"It was at that moment that I knew: It is not only me who can feel it," Pappas said.

The congregation of St. Anthony's will celebrate the centennial anniversary of their beautiful cathedral, a masterpiece of architecture and the spiritual home of generations of faithful, with a High Mass to be celebrated by Bishop George Coleman at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 28.
