With the widespread devastation of Hurricane Sandy leaving New York unable to host its annual marathon, Dublin has moved to pick up the slack with New York's support. The Entry list, race medals, and race numbers have been transferred, and those that can reach Dublin will be able to participate on November 18th.

DUBLIN will host its own version of the New York marathon for over 300 people in the Phoenix Park on Sunday, November 18, to help Irish runners honour their fundraising commitments to charity.

The New York organisers, forced to cancel their own race last weekend because of the devastation caused by Hurricane Sandy, are delighted with the idea which is the brainchild of the organisers of the Dublin Marathon.

The Big Apple organisers have agreed to give them their official New York entry list, race numbers and race medals so that the unusual event can be run in the capital, in a loop format, in the famous park.
