Athens International Comic Festival Returns

Posted: Nov. 8th, 2012  |  By Michael Pearse
Athens International Comic Festival

The three year hiatus is over and Greek comic fans will once more be given a taste of comics from around the world in the 14th Athens International Comic Festival until November 11th. Amidst protest and discord in the city, the event will hopefully bring a positive atmosphere and an opportunity to escape the negative atmosphere.

After a three-year absence, the 14th Athens International Comic Festival is now back on track during the country’s economic crisis and is running through Nov. 11 at Diplareios School (Theater Square 3, Psirri). The exhibition theme is entitled Áíôï÷Þ Õëéêþí, The Strength of Materials.

Besides group exhibitions of Greek comic artists, poster exhibition, a retrospective of David Lloyd (V for Vendetta, Doctor Who,) there will also be installations, music, cinema, and theater events, as well as book presentations and discussions.

More relevant than never before, this structural term finds its application towards everyday man who faces a hard reality, testing the limits of his endurance. In Diplareios School’s abandoned halls, together with the main program of the 27 Greek comics designers, the public will also be given the chance to admire Lloyd’s work, within the framework of the 30th anniversary since V for Vendetta was published.
