Valerie Simmons Montreal is due for a unique 3D film produced by the well-known José Navas next week, but a sneak preview and interview with the inventive director revealed hints towards the new film's content. Promising an intricate work that will captivate audiences, Navas spoke in detail about the creative process behind his work.
Glimmers of the new group piece by José Navas that opens in Montreal next week were seen here early this year, but not on stage. Navas was working on the piece, Diptych, at the same time that he was creating dance movements for Philippe Baylaucq’s short 3D film, Ora. Some of the movement research for Diptych wound up in the film.
“It would take a very acute eye to identify the sections that are identical,” mused Navas two weeks ago, shortly after returning from Belgium, where he performed his latest solo show, Personae. “They look very different in different contexts.” Read More on montrealgazette.com
