Travelers to the south pacific with a little extra pocket cash and a hankering to spend it can look no further than Manila, a city recently ranked the 11th most attractive shopping destination in the “Globe Shopper Index Asia-Pacific” survey. With the holiday season rapidly approaching and nothing more interesting than a gift from abroad, Manila serves as an excellent travel destination for world shoppers.
Of 25 Asia-Pacific cities, Manila was ranked 11th most attractive city for shopping travelers by the “Globe Shopper Index Asia-Pacific” survey, published by the Swiss-based Global Blue, in partnership with the London-based Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU). Manila got a score of 51.5 index points in five categories – variety of shops, affordability of products, hotels and transport, culture, and convenience. It followed the top 10 Asia-Pacific shopping cities: Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Shanghai, Beijing, Singapore, Sydney, Bangkok, Tokyo, Seoul, and New Delhi.
Manila’s best performance was in affordability, where it ranked 8th for its affordable two- and four-star hotels and cheap public transport.
