Growing numbers of tourists flock to the Florida Keys each year to celebrate the new year in America's southernmost cities. The Keys are quickly becoming one of the number one party destinations for tourists and this year airlines project to welcome 730,000 passengers to the keys by the end of the year.

Key West's tourism and hospitality apparatus is gearing up to host a huge crowd of New Year's Eve partiers, many already in town, just days after reporting a strong Christmas business.

Harold Wheeler, director of Monroe County's Tourist Development Council, said CNN's eight years of live coverage -- particularly showing female impersonator Sushi drop from a red high heel shoe on Duval Street -- has helped brand the Southernmost City as a popular New Year's destination.
