Austin citizens partook in the Chinese New Year with gusto this year, with wild and lively crowds who ate, drank and, of course, got crazy with some Gangam Style dancing. Here's hoping for a wonderful lunar year in the Texas city.

AUSTIN -- Around the world millions of people are celebrating the Lunar New Year.

Saturday, hundreds of Austinites joined in on the celebration.

Lively drum songs, traditional dancing, even a little Gangnam Style -- ushered in the Chinese New Year in Austin.

"It's good to have some place to go and bring the kids to experience that atmosphere of the Chinese New Year because we don't have the day off here," laughed Rachel Liao.

The crowd was showered with fortune cookies and got to see a martial arts show.

"The costumes are pretty interesting. Just seeing the variety in dances and the music is pretty good," said Jeremy Cox.
