Jet-Ski's Catch Attention in Abu Dhabi Beaches

Hotel residents in many of Abu Dhabi's many beachfront properties may be in for a bit of peace and quiet as new rules against jet ski noise pollution come into action. Fans of the exhilarating machines may be in for a disappointment, but only until “safe zones” have been established, a move that will simultaneously reduce noise and safety concerns for beach goers.

Jet skis could be prohibited from some beaches after complaints from hotels that the noise they generated disturbed and endangered guests.

The Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority (TCA) is working on new rules with the marine police after the problem was raised at a forum for hoteliers. Doris Greif, general manager of Etihad Towers, told the group – which was set up two years ago and meets every month – that jet skis were a big issue for many hotels.

Some hotels have been suffering from the noise and safety issues of the jet skis coming so close to the beach,” she said.
