Taipei Film Festival
Taipei is going all out for the 2013 Taipei Film Festival, an event that will feature more than 160 films from all across the planet. With 41 full-length films competing for the Taipei Film Awards and Turkey featuring as the "City in Focus" of the event, the entire festival promises to be a rewarding experience never before rivaled by its past iterations.
The 2013 Taipei Film Festival will kick off June 28, showcasing over 160 films from Taiwan and abroad, the festival's organizers said Thursday.
The festival, to run until July 20, will feature Istanbul, Turkey as its "City in Focus" this year. It will screen award-winning contemporary Turkish films and films by Turkish directors such as Yesim Ustaoglu, Nuri Bilge Ceylan and Zeki Demirkubuz, organizers said.
The festival will also include a section titled "Future Lights: New Talent Panorama" that will screen award-winning films by emerging filmmakers from around the world, including Thai director Nawapol Thamrongrattanarit's "36," about a woman who tries to recover her lost photos and memories in the digital age.
