Washington Culture: Mount Vernon Estate was the home of the first President of the United States, George Washington. Located along the banks of the Potomac River, the grounds here feature a mansion built of wood in the neoclassical Georgian architectural style. This former plantation offers visitors the chance to understand the country's first great hero.
The estate spans 500 acres, and in addition to the buildings and gardens is also home to George Washington's Distillery and Gristmill. This distillery is a functional replica of the founding father's own operation, and serves as the gateway to the American Whiskey Trail |
