Washington Culture: Washington Monument is not only a towering monument to America's founding father, but is also the world's tallest obelisk and stone structure. Reaching 555 feet toward the sky, and made out of marble, granite and bluestone gneiss, the Washington Monument is viewable from most of Washington, D.C.

Legend has it that each one of the states contributed at least one block of marble, making it a true testament to the unity of the country, and the legacy of George Washington. The monument is open seven days a week for tours, with free admission.
