Research in Motion unveiled its latest challengers in the smartphone market today.

It announced two new smartphones based on its Blackberry 7 operating system: the BlackBerry Bold 9790 and the BlackBerry Curve 9380.

The Curve 9380 is the first Curve smartphone with a touch display. RIM (nasdaq: RIMM - news - people ) said the new Curve continues to deliver powerful social experiences and the smaller handset size that distinguishes the Curve family of devices.

The BlackBerry Bold 9790 offers the dual benefits of a high resolution touch screen and a highly tactile keyboard. The new devices will begin to be available around the world over the coming weeks, Research in Motion said.

The company has struggled to maintain market share amid competition from Apple (nasdaq: AAPL - news - people )'s iPhone as well as Google (nasdaq: GOOG - news - people )'s Android-based devices. Google's pending acquisition of Motorola (nyse: MOT - news - people ) Mobility Holdings may pose an additional challenge.
