Vlada offers all three in spades: she has over a decade’s worth of experience grooming brows, and is absolutely meticulous about every single hair. Vlada has always been a perfectionist when it comes to brows. When she was 16, living in Ukraine, where she is originally from, she travelled 1000km to visit the best brow therapist in the country. After that, to ensure that her exceptionally high brow standards were maintained, she decided to learn how to do it herself.
Having originally trained as a lawyer, she pivoted to brows after her sister-in-law Angela encouraged her to apply for an eyebrow course, having spotted Vlada’s natural talent and artistic flair for applying makeup. Her legal training set her in good stead, and helps to explain her laser like precision and attention to detail.
She applies the same rigorously high expectations and standards to her own practice, which has grown so quickly over the past four years in London that she has just opened her own salon, specialising in brows, but also offering other select beauty treatments, including manicures, pedicures, and cosmetologists. It’s quite a remarkable trajectory, especially considering Vlada only arrived in the UK four years ago.
Her determination, passion for her work, and scrupulous attention to detail are the key ingredients in her stellar ascent. She is the go-to brow specialist for the glitterati and those in the know in the fashion world in London- they all have her on speed dial. It helps that she considers her grateful clients her friends, and she will work tirelessly to squeeze in a last-minute appointment for her faithful clients, working long hours (often until 9 at night) to satisfy the relentless demand.
She has never compromised on quality. Her tools are immaculately clean (metal tools are thoroughly sterilised between sessions and the treatment area is sanitised in between clients). She is fastidious about cleanliness, and the new clinic is gleaming.
During my first appointment, one grey, wet Wednesday morning in March, Vlada welcomes me warmly, her sunny disposition dispelling the gloom of the dismal weather outside. She begins by asking me what I would like to achieve in terms of my eyebrow shape. She listens carefully, makes a swift yet thorough assessment of my brows, and suggests how the shape can be improved, softening the arch whilst maintaining maximum thickness. This aligns perfectly with what I’d had in mind.
She also recommends that I go for a medium tint as that will complement my skin tone. She applies this with utmost precision, and shows me my brows in the mirror with the tint to check that I am happy with the shape.
After removing the tint, she uses a combination of threading and plucking, leaving me with a smooth arch and maximum volume: in other words, immaculately shaped brows. I lost count of the number of compliments I received in the days and weeks after my appointment.
Vlada is supremely talented, and is without doubt the best eyebrow therapist I have found in London (and I have been to several of the big names in brows).
