Paris Hair Report: Balmain Couture Hair

I have worked with many Hollywood hairstylists on features, commercials and television shows and havel also been backstage at New York fashion shows watching the hair teams work their magic. When I was invited to share the excitement of the Paris Couture Hair show and see the Balmain Hair Couture collections, I really was curious about what was going to happen that was creating so much buzz in the hair world. The house of BALMAIN is known for the extraordinary Coiffure creations and their tradition of great hair styling continues with this unique line of hair products and the unique “Hair Dress”, a beautiful “hair piece” extension system that you can apply in just 2-3 minutes but I dind’t believe it until I saw it for myself. Celebrities are always getting their hair done with extensions but they also complain about the damage that the process causes to their own natural hair. This has all ended with Balmain’s new salon hair extension system, couture hair products and hairpiece systems that are creating the fashionable look of true “Red Carpet” hair for the rest of us regular folks.
The “Hair Dress” is one of the most ingenious hair products I have ever seen. Essentially a “Fall” or ‘real hair’ extension. Perfect for creating length and adding fullness; the “Hair Dress” is easy to use without the permanence of a traditional hair extension. You can do it yourself at home in about 3 minutes with the help of a transparent filament hidden beneath your own hairline. The range of colors is based on the hair trends for the season so you can add strands that are a bit more blonde or red or perhaps a brunette range that adds interest to your own hair color. The ‘ombre’ look of the season is fully realized in these extensions that are ultimate in quality and on trend for this season. Back at the hair show….a crowd was building around the Balmain “Hair Carousel” and I soon figured out why: the stylist applied a “hair dress” piece making one woman’s thin whispy hair turn into a sexy fullnesss that could only be described as “magical”. She had wavy and full shoulder length hair that took years off her age. So, after the stylist showed her how to do it she bought three colors! After all, they’re like a fashion accessorie, you really can’t have too many!
