Few skin care companies can trace their identity to a single discovery that continues to shape every product decades later. For Elizabeth Grant Skin Care, that discovery is Torricelumn™, a proprietary marine-based compound first developed by founder Elizabeth Grant in the aftermath of World War II.
Grant suffered severe shrapnel damage and facial burns from a v2 bomb blast in London. Determined to restore her skin, she began experimenting with topical formulations that would eventually lead to the creation of Torricelumn™, an ingredient designed to help replenish moisture and support skin resilience. In 1948, she launched Elizabeth Grant Skin Care, built around that discovery.
Nearly eight decades later, the brand remains family-owned and female-led. Third-generation leadership continues to steer the company while maintaining its founding philosophy: prioritize restoration and long-term skin health.

“At the heart of Elizabeth Grant Skin Care is Torricelumn™, discovered by my grandmother,” says Margot Grant Witz, Vice President of the brand. “For 78 years, Torricelumn™ has remained at the center of nearly every formula we create, helping support the skin’s moisture reservoir, resilience, and the visible signs of aging.”

A Brand Built on Results
Elizabeth Grant Skin Care has maintained a consistent identity for more than 75 years, refining its core technology rather than constantly reinventing it. “When you discover something truly effective, you do not chase trends,” Grant Witz explains. “You continue to refine it. We are a brand built on 78 years of results, created by women, backed by science, and trusted by generations of women to help deliver their healthiest, most radiant looking skin.”
The brand’s Toronto laboratory continues to develop formulations internally, allowing the company to maintain close control over both research and production. Torricelumn™ remains embedded across most of the product portfolio, serving as the hydration and barrier-support foundation for the line.
A Family Philosophy of Aging Well
Trust is a recurring theme within the company’s narrative, rooted in the fact that the women developing the products are also using them. “Elizabeth Grant Skin Care was founded by a woman solving her own skin challenges, and that philosophy continues to guide everything we do today,” says Grant Witz. The generational element remains central to the brand’s credibility. Three generations of the Grant family actively use the products: the founder herself at 103, her daughter-in-law at 73, and Grant Witz at 41.

“That reality keeps our work grounded in real life and reinforces our belief in a pro-aging philosophy. Aging is not something to fight. It is something to support, respect, and care for at every stage of life.”
Even the scientific leadership reflects that perspective. The company’s head of research and development is a woman over the age of 50, bringing firsthand experience to the formulation process.
“When the women creating the products are also living the journey of aging themselves,” Grant Witz adds, “it brings a level of care, accountability, and authenticity that simply cannot be manufactured.”

The Science of Overnight Repair
One area where Elizabeth Grant’s restoration philosophy becomes particularly visible is nighttime skin care. Dermatological research supports the idea that the skin enters its most active renewal phase overnight, making evening treatments especially important. The brand’s “Overnight Reset” system is designed to work within that natural repair window.
“Nighttime is when the skin naturally shifts into its most active renewal and repair phase,” Grant Witz says. “This system was designed as a complete overnight ritual that works synergistically during those peak repair hours.”
The regimen begins with the Caviar Nutruriche Gold Mask, formulated with caviar extract, pure gold, and vitamin C to help nourish the skin and restore radiance. Next comes the Torricelumn™ Absolute Peptide Line Eraser, which contains nine advanced peptides aimed at improving the appearance of expression lines while the face is at rest. The routine concludes with the Caviar Cellular Recharge Super Night Cream, a treatment featuring cellular minerals, ginger, and ginseng to replenish moisture and support firmness overnight.
“Together, these formulas work with the skin’s overnight renewal process so that by morning the complexion looks smoother, stronger, and visibly more luminous,” Grant Witz says.
Restoration as a Guiding Principle
Plenty of skin care brands promise transformation. Elizabeth Grant’s approach feels more measured, rooted in decades of refinement and a family philosophy that values longevity. From its wartime origin story to its current generation of leadership, the company continues to focus on a single mission: helping skin recover, replenish, and thrive over time. Torricelumn™ may have been born from necessity, yet it has grown into the defining thread of a brand that has built its reputation over nearly eight decades.
