Raf Simons Goes Green for Dior Spring Couture

STYLE | by: ANNALISA SOLARI
Have you ever really stopped to think about the presentation of plants? Well, probably not, but not everyone thinks in the same fashion as the luxury designer of top design house Dior, Raf Simons. As Simons so shrewdly noted, there is a major difference between mere flora and manicured gardens. This distinction led the designer to allow artificial colors and nature-inspired shapes appear throughout the collection with a show premise that was said by Simons to be inspired by "the very idea of spring."

Burberry Gone Wild | Fall/Winter RTW Debuts in Milan

Burberry 2013 RTW Fall Winter
STYLE | by: TINA STEWART
Burberry opened its autumn/ winter RTW show at Milan's fashion week to the awakening sound of cathedral church bells against a darkened city-scape background — London of course. Are they heralding something new and exciting? Most likely, because Christopher Bailey, Chief Creative Director of Burberry since 2009, has been revamping the brand significantly during his tenure — modernizing the heritage classic, and ushering it into the technological age.

This time, Kate will also be broadening her role and trying her hand as guest fashion designer on a capsule collection for the summer. Alongside creative director at Ann Taylor, Lisa Axelson, Hudson helped to create looks inspired by red-hot red-carpet fashion but reinterpreted for day-to-day occasions.

Breguet's Tourbillon Watch Exhibit Celebrates Cenutries of Horological History

Classique Complication
JEWELRY & WATCHES | by: TINA STEWART
Legendary horologist and founder of luxury watch company Breguet, Abraham-Louis Breguet made timekeeping history in 1801 with the invention of a much-needed, but highly complex watch mechanism. Seeing the adverse effect gravity had on reliable timekeeping, he created the tourbillon— an escapement housed within a mobile carriage that performs a complete rotation every couple of minutes. Basically, the regular repetition of the tourbillon's variations offsets those made by gravity. It was a tough assignment for Bregeut to pull off, as it requires a certain durability while nonetheless maintaining its light weight.

Bespoke Suits by Online Startup 7 Regent Lane

STYLE | by: JAMES ROTHAAR
If a company contacts us and says it sells premium luxury suits for less than $700, we are going to try to find out as much as possible before writing about it. The online clothier, 7 Regent Lane, is a Philadelphia, Pennsylvania-based startup that opened its website in late January, 2012. Two business students from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business, along with another partner, launched it when they found a gap in the market for impressive bespoke suits.

It's a piece of art. It's a coat. Its Iris van Herpen's Spring 2013 Haute Couture Collection! Commencing the runway show in proper Herpen fashion, an extravagant introduction which included an epic electric display hardly overshadowed the designs that luxury designer Iris Van Herpen had up her sleeve.

Karl Makes Another Controversial Statement, This Time on the Runway

CHATTER | by: NICOLLE KEOGH
Luxury designer Karl Lagerfeld made quite the statement today on the tails of a recent march in Paris that protested French president Francois Hollande's plan to legalize gay marriage. Such a statement was made at Lagerfeld's haute couture show for Chanel, during which the fashion maven sent two models hand-in-hand down the runway wearing couture bridal gowns. The pair of models, who walked with one of the designer's young nephews, closed out the long-awaited show that occurred as a part of Paris Fashion Week. To make himself clear, when asked by the Associated Press if the act was made in support of gay marriage in France, Lagerfeld replied, "Of course it was."

CHATTER | by: NICOLLE KEOGH
The inaugural events are certainly off to a stylish start, thanks to the First Family. At yesterday's official swearing-in ceremony in the White House's Blue Room, the always-stylish Michelle Obama wore a beautiful blue dress and cardigan by Reed Krakoff. She made more fashion news today when she arrived to church services and her husband's public swearing-in ceremony wearing a Thom Browne ensemble. The First Daughters proved that they take after their fashion-forward mother when they arrived to this morning's events wearing luxury labels. Malia, 14, wore a plum colored coat with a deep burgundy scarf, teal leather gloves, and a blue dress all by J. Crew; and 12-year-old Sasha wore a Kate Spade coat and dress.

How To Use Diet Apps To Get the Results You Want

HEALTH & BEAUTY | by: ANNALISA SOLARI
It's a New Year, and let's just tackle the one resolution that has been mercilessly shoved down nearly every American's throat: (not literally, of course, that would be too many calories) losing weight. A concept so simple in theory– just work out more and eat less– but it's so overwhelming when it comes to actually staying "on track." Group weight loss meetings can be very public and don't always work with your schedule— and more often than not, attempting to lose weight on your own leads to cheating (one sliver of cake won't hurt, right?) So why not embrace all that technology has to offer? You're on your phone half of the day anyway, so why not improve your health and wellness while you're at it?
