Surrounding the namesake quartz dome monadnock is the Stone Mountain Park. Widely known for its geological features, one side of the mountain features a bas-relief of three Confederate soldiers; Stonewall Jackson, Robert E. Lee, and Jefferson Davis.

The base of the mountain has a circumference of five miles at its wooded base, while the higher elevations consist of exposed rock. The park features a museum and many relics of Georgia’s controversial history
