Best Beauty Tips to Make Your Eye Makeup Last

Eye makeup takes a long time to perfect. It’s usually the part of your makeup look you spend the most time completing every day. When it rubs off or smudges after an hour or two, it’s like you did all of that work for nothing!

One of the most important parts of any makeup routine is priming and setting. It’s not only important to have makeup that looks great, it’s just as important, if not more, to have makeup that last throughout the day. Life happens and your makeup should be along for the ride, perfectly intact at the end of the day. Here’s some awesome beauty tips and tricks to make sure your eye makeup last throughout the day, no matter what you get into during it!

1.Prime your lids: The first step to making your eye makeup last all day long is to prime your lids. Primer is extremely important so that your eye shadow doesn’t smudge and disappear throughout the day! This step is especially important for people who have oily skin and eyelids. Check out Urban Decay’s primer potion ($12) for a great eye shadow primer. If you don’t want to go out and buy a primer, use a concealer that matches your skin tone to make your eye shadow stick.

2. Go waterproof: If you’ve been having trouble making your eye makeup stay throughout the day, switch out your regular products for waterproof ones, like your eyeliner and mascara. Waterproof eye liners are wax based and will not budge all day long. Waterproof mascara don’t tend to give you the volume or length of regular mascara. However, this is easily fixed. Simply apply your favorite mascara first and then add a light coat of waterproof over it. If you don’t mind spending a little extra money, there are some brands that are addressing this problem a little more fully now and making waterproof mascara topcoats, which are specifically designed for this problem.

3.Don’t let your waterlines water: Lining your waterline is a popular technique that many people do to make their eyes stand out. However, most people find that since the waterline is so close to the eye and is such a sensitive area, the liner doesn’t last that long. A great tip to make your waterline liner last is to dip your pencil liner into a gel liner. Gel liner will last for much longer and this will provide you a simple and easy way to apply it, as well!
