Five Must-haves for an Awesome Neighborhood

http://forgetranscriptions.com

During our first two years as a married couple, my husband and I decided to keep his apartment as it was the most practical thing to do given that we were just starting up and our finances was quite limited then. On our third year, our firstborn came and we thought about finding a new home but then sad to say, we had no enough savings yet so we decided to give ourselves another two years for that.

When we already had enough money, we went around the area to look for a new home. We tried looking on the ads and even sought the help of a real estate agent. So went the house hunting until we have finally found our “dream house”. Well it was not too much but it was best for us, considering that we plan on having a small family. After a few modifications, we have finally moved into our new home after a month. Right now, we have been in here for eight years and the house has been a witness to a lot of important events in our life as a family.

Honestly speaking, when we were looking for our home, the first thing we were considering was the price, followed by the size and finally the location. These three factors influenced us into choosing this home. But looking at the neighborhoods lately, I have realized that aside from the price, size, and proximity, there are actually some features that one should look for when looking for a new home. Check out my personal list!

1.      Supermarket.

I can no longer keep track of the number of times I had to rush to the supermarket to buy some ingredients which I forgot or the number of times I had to make some trips there because of a tool or supply that I badly needed at that very occasion. Having a supermarket five minutes away from your home is very practical as it gives you easy access to whatever supply you need- food, water, kitchen and household supplies, almost everything. Going to and fro from there consumes less of your time, plus, you can easily go there for “emergency” shopping.

2.      School

A good school near your home is a huge bonus. If you are lucky enough to be in a neighborhood where the school’s a rock throw away, you should be very thankful. A school near your home means that you can go to your child easily should some untoward problems arise, and it is safer as you can personally take your child to and from the school. You can also easily monitor his or her progress at school and if he’s still in preschool, you may opt not to stay all the while at school and wait. You may go home and try to do some house chores while fetch him on schedule.

3.      Police Station, Fire Station, and a Hospital

Well, I think it’s pretty obvious why it would be beneficial to have these three close to your home. Proximity to theme means safety so do consider.

4.      Recreational Park

Recreation is a good way to bond with your family so find a neighborhood with a space dedicated for weekend strolls, picnics, or a game of Frisbee. Not only will a place like this help you interact with your own family members but it is also a good way to meet other families.

5.      Sports or Fitness Center

Your neighborhood should be one where you can grow as a family and live a healthy life as well. So it would be great to choose one with some space for early morning run, a game of basketball, or a gym or two which is a walk away will do.
