Jewelry designer Karen Karch and “Real Housewive of New York City” Heather Thomson collaborate to create a uniquely designed jewelry collection to benefit The Kellner Family Pediatric Liver Disease Foundation.
The collection premiered at the Karen Karch Boutique in Gramercy Park on June 25th. In attendance were RHONY cast members LuAnn de Lesseps, Ramona Singer, Sonja Morgan, Carole Radziwill and Kristen Taekman. Other guests included Andrew and Samantha Kellner, Amy Laurent of Bravo's “Miss Advised” and celebrity stylist/designer Tamae Ishii.
The collection features white and yellow gold pieces, rubies, layered chains, entwined heart earrings and a series of chic jeweled and stackable rings. While working on the Kellner pieces, Karen was so inspired by the intensity with which Heather lives her life. “Inspiration for all of our collections has always come from contradiction, and here is a woman that embodies the contradictory aspects lover and fighter. She is a modern-day warrior princess on a collision course with success. The Lover/ Fighter: Heather Thomson Muse Capsule Collection was the result of this inspiration” says Karen. For over two decades, Karen Karch has been animating the staid world of fine jewelry with her distinctively evolutionary yet timeless aesthetic. Starting with her first collection after her graduation from the Parsons School of Design in 1989, she has created innovative and beautiful pieces suffused with her unique sensibility—by turns edgy-contemporary and evocative of another era. Those early street-inspired designs caused a stir, moving the press to characterize her work as “dangerous jewelry” and immediately enlivening the inventory of some of the world’s most prestigious stores.
