New York Autoshow 2015 Recap

New York AutoShow 2015

NYC Autoshow

Earlier this month, the 2015 New York International Auto Show threw open its doors, and as car enthusiasts shielded their eyes over the dazzling exhibits that proved to be bigger, brasher and bolder than past showcases, it was apparent that luxury was the name of the game in the show.

Some highlights: GM rolled out the Cadillac CT6, and Ford vowed the audience with the reappearance of its Lincoln Continental flagship after a 13-year hiatus. Luxury car collectors would be thrilled to know that the Caddy will be available in major showrooms soon, so perhaps it's time to procure insurance and make way in the garage for this beauty. Those who have set their eyes on the Continental will have to wait longer (late 2016 or early 2017) to call it their own.

Luxury sells

With a buoyant market enjoying exponential growth since last year, along with a projection of $17.1 million annual sales, it's little wonder that the luxury car scene needs any more nudging. More and more purchases and orders are made, with average transactions totaling up to $33,000, so it's only natural that Land Rover chose the most defining auto show on earth to unveil its SVAutobiography, the ultimate in 4x4 luxury Range Rover. Besides being an opulent icon, this model is also the most powerful Range Rover ever, as owners will be able to enjoy an optional 550PS (542hp) supercharged V8 engine that you won't find working in other vehicles elsewhere.

Porsche shows off its extravagant side

This year, the 2015 New York International Auto Show gave Porsche fans something to lust about when they launched the all-new Boxster Spyder. The makers chose to up the performance level and gave it a 3.8-liter six-cylinder that produces 375 horsepower, which will bring the two-seater from 0 to 60 mph in 4.3 seconds and up to 180 mph. True enthusiasts will be excited to discover that the exterior design of the Spyder was gleaned inspiration from the 718 Spyder circa 1960s.
