In January, TW Steel and the Yamaha Factory Racing MotoGP team announced their newly signed partnership – the watch manufacturer is now the official partner and sponsor of the Japanese giant’s MotoGP racing team. TW Steel has commemorated the event with the launch of a new lineup of TW Steel watches based on the racing theme with a tribute to Yamaha. The official name of the lineup is the Yamaha Factory Racing Watch Collection.
There are four models in the Yamaha Factory Racing Watch Collection, namely the TW924, the TW925, the TW926 and the TW927. This is a special edition series and all the four models are attached to the wrist with a silicon strap in a blue color with the logo of Yamaha and ‘Factory Racing’ imprinted in white lengthwise on both sides of the strap. The strap is 22mm wide, it has a special dust protection layer and it is closed with a steel clasp, so that it can fit around the wrist perfectly. There are two different case designs and two different case sizes (45mm and 48mm) available in the collection. Let’s take a look at each of these new TW Steel watches in detail.
TW924
The TW924 has a case size of 45mm in diameter and it is made out of high-grade steel (316L), with a polished silver-tone finish. The distinctive element of the case design is the eight hexagonal-shaped rivets that are positioned around the watch dial. On the side of the case, there are gold-plated PVD pillars. The model has a hardened mineral crystal window with an additional sapphire layer for better protection, a screwed-down crown and a water resistance capability of 10 ATM. It has a textured black carbon dial and an OS25 Miyota chrono movement with 1/20th of the second accuracy. The TW924 has luminous hour and minute hands and baton indices, a red needle-shaped second hand and three sub dials. It is a precise chronograph with a tachymeter, a stopwatch function and a date display between the 4 and 5 o’clock marks.
TW925
The TW925 has almost the same characteristics as the TW924, but it has a bigger case size – of 48mm. This model has TW924’s riveted case design, reinforced mineral crystal window, strong 316L steel build and 10ATM water resistance. It runs on OS25 Miyota chrono too. In fact, the dial of the TW925 is just the same as in the TW924 model, but it is bigger in size – suitable for those who like bulkier models.
TW926
The TW926 has a 45mm case with a streamlined design, made out of high-grade stainless steel (316L) with a brushed finish. The model has a screw-down crown, yellow-gold-plated PVD pushers, a reinforced mineral crystal window and a water resistance capability of 5 ATM. The textured black carbon dial of the TW926 features luminous hands and hour markers, the latter in the form of large Arabic numerals, for clear visibility. The second hand is red and there is a date window between 4 and 5 o’clock. The model runs on the 6S20 Miyota quartz movement and has a tachymeter, a stopwatch and three sub dials.
TW927
The TW927 shares the same functional and design characteristics as the TW926, bit its case is bigger in size – 48mm in diameter. It has the same hardened mineral window, water resistance, tachymeter and 6S20 Miyota movement, too. The clean design and easily readable face make these two models very desirable.
The four new models of TW Steel watches in the Yamaha Factory Racing Watch Collection spell great news for the watch lovers. The models are expected to have price tags in the range of $500-$850, which really is a great bargain for the admirers of the brand.
