I’ve been returning to Silverado again and again for more than four decades. I’ve attended weddings, corporate retreats, golf tournaments, and winery events, and have enjoyed leisurely Wine Country escapes. I’ve watched the property evolve while remaining remarkably true to its character. While Napa Valley has welcomed an impressive collection of luxury hotels and resorts over the years, Silverado has remained true to the character that has defined it for generations. To me, it represents classic Napa Valley, and the resort’s newest investments feel like a natural evolution rather than a reinvention, enhancing what has made Silverado a favorite for generations.
A New Era of Wellness
The newly unveiled Silverado Spa & Longevity Center expands the traditional spa experience into one centered on prevention, recovery, and long-term wellbeing. Signature treatments range from sports recovery massages for golfers and other active travelers to immersive rituals incorporating breathwork, aromatherapy, and sound therapy. Facial offerings combine advanced skincare technologies with products from True Botanicals and Skin Authority, while HydraFacial treatments and red-light therapy introduce science-backed skincare to the menu.
My Time in the Treatment Room
I began with the 80-minute VitaD Recovery Massage, where the therapist combined therapeutic techniques with long, flowing strokes that released tension from my shoulders and lower back and allowed me to drift off. (If the highest compliment is forgetting the world around you, this treatment earned it.) I then enjoyed a Skin Immuni-D Boost Facial. Rich in antioxidants and deeply hydrating ingredients, the treatment (which included facial massage) left my complexion refreshed and luminous.
Inside the Recovery Lounge
One of the spa’s most compelling additions is the Recovery Lounge. Designed for post-activity restoration and stress relief, it features technology more commonly associated with elite athletic training facilities than luxury resorts. Guests can experience dynamic compression therapy, infrared recovery, PEMF mat therapy, Therabody Smart Goggles, and the Therabody Sound Healing Lounger, all intended to improve circulation, ease muscle fatigue, and support relaxation after a day spent golfing, hiking, cycling, playing pickleball, or exploring Napa Valley.
Fitness Reimagined
The wellness experience extends beyond the treatment rooms. A newly equipped fitness center features Technogym‘s latest connected strength and cardio equipment, along with Technogym Checkup, an assessment platform that evaluates movement patterns, estimates a guest’s “wellness age,” and develops personalized fitness recommendations. Silverado has also introduced Northern California’s first OxeFit XS1 Smart Training System, bringing AI-powered strength training and performance coaching to resort guests.
Guests looking for a deeper wellness experience can choose curated one- or multi-day journeys that combine spa treatments, recovery sessions, meditation, private fitness coaching, and nutrition guidance. Matchplay Kitchen & Bar, Refreshed
Matchplay Kitchen & Bar has undergone its own thoughtful transformation. The redesigned restaurant replaces a more traditional clubhouse feel with an atmosphere that encourages guests to settle in. Cozy booths, tartan textiles, warm wood finishes, and an inviting new bar create a welcoming setting whether stopping in after a morning on the golf course or gathering for dinner with friends.
Executive Chef Patrick Prager brings an impressive résumé that includes work alongside Wolfgang Puck, Bradley Ogden, Michael Mina, George Morrone, and Traci Des Jardins. His menus celebrate approachable California cuisine built around fresh, seasonal ingredients. Expect beautifully prepared seafood, premium steaks, handcrafted pastas, crisp salads, satisfying burgers, and an excellent selection of Napa Valley wines and handcrafted cocktails. The result is comfortably upscale without sacrificing the relaxed spirit that has long defined Silverado.
Residential-Style Accommodations
Accommodations remain among the resort’s greatest strengths. While many Napa Valley hotels focus on traditional guestrooms, Silverado’s spacious one-bedroom condominium suites provide generous living rooms, fireplaces, fully equipped kitchens, and private patios or balconies overlooking secluded courtyards, swimming pools, or the resort’s championship golf courses. The suite configurations work particularly well for families and groups, allowing guests to reserve separate accommodations while remaining just steps from one another.
