True luxury reveals itself gradually, with layers, and subtle confidence. Maison Psyché, the rarefied perfume house created by Rémy Cointreau, the storied French group behind LOUIS XIII cognac, inhabits that space. These are not fragrances made for impulse buys or casual spritzing. They are conceived as objets d’art, shaped by patience, craft, and the belief that beauty becomes more compelling when it unfolds on its own terms.
Launched in 2021, Maison Psyché draws on centuries of savoir-faire, connecting two worlds that have more in common than you might expect: fine fragrance and fine spirits. The result is a collection that feels rooted in history, yet unbound by it. The scents are ethereal but richly composed, familiar yet just out of reach, the kind you keep returning to in order to understand them better.
From Myth to Method
The name offers a hint at the house’s mindset. Psyché, drawn from Greek mythology, symbolizes the soul, transformation, and the journey toward transcendence. It’s an apt reference for a house built around metamorphosis, whether of raw materials, time, or scent itself. The butterfly, Maison Psyché’s emblem, underscores the idea. It’s a poetic nod to evolution and fragility.

Aging Scent Like a Spirit
What truly distinguishes Maison Psyché is how the fragrances are made. Instead of stopping at traditional perfumery methods, the house borrows directly from Rémy Cointreau’s expertise in aging spirits. Once composed, each fragrance is aged in small oak casks in their own Cognac cellars, where time, wood, and air soften edges and deepen complexity, much as they would with a great cognac.
A Dialogue Between Disciplines
This process sparked an uncommon collaboration. Master perfumer Sophie Labbé, celebrated for her refined, nuanced compositions, worked alongside Baptiste Loiseau, the LOUIS XIII cellar master responsible for guiding one of the world’s most revered spirits. Together, they explored how fragrance responds to time and environment. How oak might mellow brightness, how patience might reveal new facets within natural ingredients. It became a true conversation between crafts, deeply French in its respect for tradition and technique.

The Inaugural Collection
Maison Psyché’s debut collection features five fragrances, each built around a single, exceptional natural ingredient and treated as a living composition rather than a static formula.
Alexanor centers on Calabrian bergamot. Luminous and fresh, the citrus note is refined through its time in oak, delivering brightness with an unexpected sense of depth.
Belle-Dame is built around centifolia rose from Grasse. It avoids overt romance in favor of something more complete: velvety, nuanced, and assured. It feels both timeless and contemporary.
Alcyone explores jasmine grandiflorum from India. The floral richness is present, but so is space. There’s an intimacy to this scent, as though it stays close, revealing itself gradually.
Nymphalis, anchored by Indonesian patchouli, grounds the collection. Earthy and resonant, it carries a sense of weight balanced by elegance, unfolding slowly with wear.
Hamadryas centers on Madagascan bourbon vanilla, transformed by aging into something far more complex. Woody and musky undertones emerge, giving a vanilla structure and sensuality.
The Vessel as Art
Each fragrance is presented in a striking Baccarat crystal bottle, crafted with the same care as the perfume itself. Substantial and refined, the bottles feature gold detailing, and in the most exclusive editions, diamonds, elevating them firmly into collectible territory. These are vessels meant to honor what they hold.

Rare by Design
Maison Psyché fragrances are produced in extremely limited quantities and are not widely available. You can find them by appointment through Private Advisors and at Maison Psyché’s prestigious address: Paris, Place Vendôme, or by Louis XIII private client networks, along with select luxury retailers and bespoke presentations. Pricing reflects the rarity and craftsmanship involved, placing Maison Psyché among the most exclusive names in Grande Parfumerie.
A Shared Language of Time
Perfume and cognac speak the same language: time, material, and intent. Maison Psyché’s distinction lies in its willingness to let fragrance evolve slowly, shaped by the patience and precision long practiced in Cognac cellars. The result is a collection of scents that feel soulful, poetic, and built to last.
