While most classic, luxury timepieces have simple characteristics and clean styling, Girard-Perregaux’s Neo-Tourbillon with Three Bridges is taking traditional detailing to a whole new level. A reinterpretation of the heritage Tourbillon with Three Bridges made almost 150 years ago, the new timepiece focuses on maintaining quality craftsmanship while reinventing design for the modern era.
Visually, the watch strives for a very three-dimensional aesthetic, highlighting the inner workings in a more skeletal form than its predecessor, while at the same time streamlining the design. Reformatted in titanium, the bridges are lighter with stronger lines for a sleeker appearance. The bridges are sandblasted down before they are covered in a black PVD coating which creates a chic contrast against the grey and silver movement.

To highlight the unique craftsmanship and interior workings of the watch, the sapphire glass is designed to be an “anti-reflective, box-like window,” allowing the wearer to see the movement and beauty of the timepieces from any angle. Sitting flush against the case center, the precision of the encasing allows the clockwork to be seen without any visual distortion. The clear backing features an arrow-shaped bridge that crosses the entirety of the inner mechanics.
The calibre has been completely redesigned and is larger than the original watch. In the updated Neo-Tourbillon, the movement is done vertically with the gear train under the six o’clock position, and the micro-motor under the barrel at the 12 o’clock position. It runs at three Hertz to ensure longevity and performance. The new tourbillon is fashioned in black titanium, complete with recesses and beveled edges. Featuring a 45mm face in a soft pink-gold, the watch is water resistant up to approximately 98 feet and comes with a black alligator leather strap with hand stitching. Pricing has yet to be released.
