Handmade shoes often remind us of a different time, a time when men and women alike would work together with a shoemaker to create the perfect pair of shoes for everyday life as well as special occasions, when shoes weren’t mass produced, but made by hand.
For a limited time, Qüero Shoes is bringing back this tradition in a New York City Pop-Up. Located at 485 Madison Avenue between 51st and 52nd street and open now through Wednesday, January 15, 2020, from 10 AM to 6 PM on weekdays and 12-5 PM on weekends, Qüero Shoes is brings handcrafted shoes made one-by-one in Spain as well as custom shoes with 40 materials to choose from including 13 leather colors, 12 suedes and 6 patterned leathers. All in all, a dream come true for any shoe lover out there.
The idea of creating this brand came during a trip to Madrid, when the owners discovered a newly established shoe business offering high quality handmade shoes. The idea appealed to them so much that they decided to create Qüero Shoes, a brand focused on one simple credo: offer high quality shoes at an affordable price and treat customers like family.
But it wasn’t just about creating beautiful handmade shoes. They wanted them to be comfortable, to be the kind of shoes that look impeccable, yet at the same time offer the level of comfort that allows customers to wear them all day long without feeling any discomfort.
They set out to find a factory in Spain and they settled on one in Almansa, about three hours south of Madrid. The attention to detail and to each process; cutting, sewing, assembling and finishing, is of the highest order. Working directly with the factory at every step, and sourcing the highest Italian, French and Spanish leathers, allowed the team to bypass normal industry middlemen and pass on the savings to the customers.
Boasting classic, versatile and sleek designs with a bold twist while emphasizing comfort first, Qüero’s curated assortment of shoes, loafers, sneakers and boots includes: Italian, French and Spanish calfskin leathers and suedes; anti-slip, lightweight rubber soles; Bologna and Blake constructions; breathable calfskin linings; and more.
