Congrats, guys! After much speculation and years of planning, it looks like you’re finally getting your own Fashion Week in New York! Today the Council of Fashion Designers of America announced that there will be a NYFW: Men’s beginning this summer. While the final details have not been decided as of yet, the first biannual event will begin July 13 and run through July 16 with Spring 2016 presentations. Held at Skylight Clarkson Square, the new Fashion Week will be sponsored by Amazon and its subsidiaries including Amazon Fashion, East Dane and My Habit. DreamWorks and Shinola will also be minor sponsors.

 “American menswear has never been stronger or more creative,” said Steven Kolb, CEO of the CFDA, in a statement. “There are many reasons the CFDA is launching New York Fashion Week: Men’s. It gives the designers a business platform to show during their market dates and is an opportunity to demonstrate the collective talent of an important segment of our industry. The effort to create standalone men's shows is not just backed by CFDA and participating designers, but also by the American editors and retailers who have contributed as we have built this, and they will continue to be involved in our planning.”

So far at least 13 brands will be participating including Duckie Brown, Calvin Klein Collection, Kent & Curwen, Timo Weiland, Michael Kors, Patrik Ervell, Rag & Bone, Robert Gellerand, Public School, Ovadia & Sons, Billy Reid, Todd Snyder and Michael Bastian. While not all will show collections, each will participate in one way or another be it runway, presentation or special event. Tommy Hilfiger, who is not only on the CFDA board but has been a “early champion” of NYFW:Men’s since the beginning, will also be participating in the inaugural event.
